What do I need to know when travelling with a child on a Greyhound?

Travelling with children can be a great experience, and a little preparation can go a long way towards making the journey comfortable for everyone.

Before you travel

• Arrive at least 20 minutes before departure
• Having your ticket or Booking ID and photo ID ready
• Bringing snacks and drinks
• Downloading movies, games or shows before you travel
• Packing headphones, a charger and a power bank
• Keeping medication, travel documents and other essentials in your carry-on bag
• Selecting seats together

For longer journeys, it can also help to bring a jumper, favourite toy, travel pillow, blanket or any comfort items your child may like to have close by.

East coast Greyhound services offer free WiFi and all services have USB charging; however, availability can be affected by network coverage and other factors. We recommend downloading entertainment before departure so it's available when you need it. 

Good to know

• Children aged 14 years and under must travel with a parent, guardian or chaperone aged 15 years or older.
• Coach Captains cannot supervise children or provide childcare during the journey.
• Greyhound does not provide food or drinks onboard, so bringing your own refreshments is recommended.
• If you're travelling during school holidays or peak periods, booking and selecting seats early can help ensure everyone sits together.
