Can I get a refund for my Greyhound booking?

Modified on Tue, 29 Sep at 6:45 AM

Refund eligibility depends on the product you've purchased, the reason for the request, and any rights available under Australian Consumer Law.

Tickets

If you purchased a Flexible Fare with Travel Sure and contact us at least 1 hour before departure, you may be eligible for a refund of the ticket value, provided travel hasn't commenced.

Please note that booking fees and the Travel Sure fee are non-refundable.

Early Bird tickets and Flexible Fare tickets without Travel Sure are non-refundable, including when your travel plans change, subject to any rights and remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.

If Greyhound cancels your service, we'll automatically defer your travel for up to 12 months, regardless of fare type. Simply log in to Manage Booking and choose a new date and time that suits you.

Other options, including G-Dollars or a refund, may also be available depending on the circumstances.

Travel Passes

Travel Passes may be eligible for a refund if:

  • Travel has not commenced.
  • The Pass has not expired.

A 10% cancellation fee applies, unless you're entitled to a refund or another remedy under Australian Consumer Law.

If you're travelling on a Travel Pass and Greyhound cancels your service, we'll automatically remove the affected travel sector from your Pass. Simply log in to Manage Booking and add travel on another available service.

This won't affect your Pass expiry date. If your Pass is due to expire on, or shortly after, the cancelled service date, please contact our Customer Experience Team.

Travel Packages

Travel Packages are generally non-refundable if your plans change or you no longer wish to travel.

However, refunds or alternative arrangements may be available if:

  • An included tour, experience or accommodation provider cancels a booked service.
  • A natural disaster impacts an included tour or experience.
  • You're entitled to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.

Good to know

  • Travel Sure is an optional add-on available when purchasing a Flexible Fare.
  • Flexible Fare tickets can be changed (date and time only) or deferred for up to 12 months, up to 1 hour before departure.
  • Early Bird tickets can't be changed. We may be able to upgrade your ticket to a Flexible Fare. Fare differences and administration fees apply.
  • If you booked through a travel agent or third-party reseller, you'll need to contact them directly regarding any eligible refund request.
  • Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method used for the booking.
  • Most refunds are received within 10 business days, however we recommend allowing up to 15 business days, as bank processing times are outside of Greyhound's control.

Important: Subject to any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), Greyhound isn't able to cover the cost of alternative travel arrangements or third-party services. This includes flights, accommodation, tours, rideshare services, ferries, trains and other transport providers.
