What if I do not want to travel after receiving a Greyhound disruption? notice?

Modified on Tue, 29 Sep at 6:56 AM

If you've received a disruption notice and no longer wish to travel, the options available to you will depend on your fare type, package and the reason for the disruption.

Where possible, Greyhound will provide an appropriate remedy in line with the fare conditions that applied at the time of booking, our Terms and Conditions of Carriage and Australian Consumer Law.

If the disruption is within Greyhound's control, such as an operational cancellation or service change, the options available to you will depend on your fare type or package. Depending on the fare conditions, you may be eligible for a refund or deferred travel. In some cases, a cancellation or administration fee may apply.

If the disruption is caused by events outside Greyhound's control, such as flooding, bushfires, cyclones, severe weather or road closures, refunds may not be available. In these situations, customers will generally be able to defer travel and rebook at a later date, subject to the applicable fare conditions.

A few things to keep in mind:
  • Refund eligibility depends on both your fare type and the cause of the disruption.
  • Deferred travel is typically valid for up to 12 months from the original date of purchase.
  • Natural events and safety-related disruptions are outside Greyhound's control.
  • Travel insurance may help cover additional expenses or losses resulting from a disruption.

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance before you travel.
Travel insurance may help cover unexpected costs such as accommodation, meals, alternative transport arrangements and missed connections that Greyhound is unable to reimburse.
